Remove ZAccess Rootkit and Other Malware / Virus Infections From Computer by Britec

Remove ZAccess Rootkit and Other Malware / Virus Infections From Computer by Britec ZeroAccess rootkit, also known as Max++, is a nasty piece of malware which is designed to start its persistent campaign just after infiltration. The infiltration of this malware is quite simple and done through security holes together with infected downloads, often Adobe Reader or Java fake updates. It can be said that additional purpose of ZeroAccess rootkit is to set up a stealthy, undetectable and un-removable platform which should help to download malware into the target PC. As you can see, it’s a rootkit which is advanced and sophisticated. ZeroAccess rootkit is quite similar to TDSS rootkit, and shares both functionality and even some portions of code. They both hide from anti-malware program scans, stop legitimate programs from working by killing their processes or stopping them from execution. In fact, it is quite hard to distinguish between these two trojans for the victim without a scan. Zero Access is one of the trojans responsible for hijacked Google results. The symptoms are search engine search results and various other pages redirecting to pages promoting various products, unrelated to searches. How can I Remove the firewall on my work PC?

Question by daffymeeh: How can I Remove the firewall on my work PC?
I understand that there are sites that the company doesn’t want us to visit. Like for streaming and chat. But in most cases we need to research on companies before we call them(i am a Marketing agent). On my previous company, they have Surf Control’s and has managed to block only several sites which are inappropriate. But with my company, it seems that they are too lazy to remove those sites one-by-one and has decided to remove everything except Yahoo! We cant search on companies, maps, times, news, etc.

If its possible, can someone share? Thanks!

Since you work for a company and they have decided to restrict internet access, you’ll have to find your IT Person and get permission for the Firewall Access to allow certain sites.

I could tell you how to do it but it would defeat the security policy of your company.

If a page got indexed, but you then remove the page, is there a way to remove it from the listing or do you have to wait until the Search Engine crawls the entire site again and realizes that page does not exist anymore?

Google has a process that will allow you to remove pages of your website (or even your entire website) from their database. The first step is to put a “nofollow” instruction to the Googlebot in your metatag. Then you can use Google’s automatic URL removal system

Here are Google’s instructions on how to remove a page http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35303

This is Yahoo’s instructions on how to remove a page from their database, which is similar to Google by making you put a noindex tag in your metatags first http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/deletions/deletions-03.html

Whatever Search bar you have installed in your system has an option for uninstalling it. After the previous search bar is uninstalled just log in to http://toolbar.yahoo.com and install the yahoo toolbar.
