Links show that you have credibility, and the best links are links that come from credible sites. There are many ways that people deal with this question. The important thing is not to start posting links on ‘link farms’ and just random blogs that are offering link exchanges. Rather build good content and get to know others in your field in the blogging world. As your credibility grows they may want to link to you. If people want to link to you because your content is so interesting and compelling, then it is likely that the link is going to be good for your SEO.

One way to get links ‘easier’ is to write articles that are posted on online magazine type sites or to guest post on other people’s blogs. Of course you need some credibility for this to happen in the first place. I believe that it really comes down to producing good content first, and then getting links later.

I heard that adding 1 way links to your site is the best for for search engine marketing, is that correct?

Hi there! If your hypothesis is that reciprocal links are less valued than inbound links, my response is that inbound links as well as reciprocal links are very valuable if the visitors clicking on these links feel that they have come to the right place.

SEO is a X stage rocket and strong inbound links arise by:
1. Creating content that the visitors read, comment on, purchase and so on…

2. Write clear and 2-the-point titles on your pages (VERY IMPORTANT). Titles are at least as important as a title on a book cover, it is crucial in order for the search engines’ spiders to locate your site.

3. Submit your site to the strong (read:trustworthy) directories. http://www.seomoz.org/directories

4. By now inbound links should start to come in on your site…

The Burning Bush, Has anyone heard of my new upcoming book?

Question by Tabitha R: The Burning Bush, Has anyone heard of my new upcoming book?
I am a new author at Publish America. I am getting my book published. I am almost to the point to where it will be in print soon. I was wondering if anyone has heard of my book or websites. Look me up under Tabitha Robin, and tell me what you think about my sites. http://www.tabitha-robin.com I need some info on my layouts for my book. I would like to know if I can advertise my book somehow besides on search engines. Could any one help me with book promotion ideas, bookmarks for my books, and where to get some buisness cards made for a great price. I want to promote my book as well as possible. Any Ideas?

For starters, you could shamelessly use the Internet, by posting stuff on Yahoo! answers and creating a blog about your book, for example. Nothing wrong with self-promotion.

It looks as though you’ve got the basics down.

But seriously, if you’re trying to launch a poetry career, the local level is the best way to go at it. Poetry is very widely still considered to be a living art, especially when new authors are concerned. I would find out where poetry readings are given where you live and attend those regularly, read from your book and maybe other ongoing works. This will get you personally known among a public that has interest in poetry. It’s a very competitive market and difficult to break, but best of luck to you.

Has anyone heard of a company called Wizard Marketing Group out of Vancouver, BC?

Question by Traci H.: Has anyone heard of a company called Wizard Marketing Group out of Vancouver, BC?
I have searched everywhere I know on the internet & the BBB for a company called: Wizard Marketing Group, Redemption Center. Here is there address: 101-1001 West Broadway, #515, Vancouver, Canada V6H 4E4. I don’t have a telephoe number nor a website either.

I was given something so that I can get a FREE laptop that I supposedly won through a car dealership. However, I have to send $ 119 for shipping, handling & processing to the above company in order for me to get the laptop.

I only have 45 days to get this (I have about 1 month left). Or else, I don’t get it at all. However, I don’t want to send money for nothing. That’s a lot of money.

Any information, good or bad, I need as soon as possible. I did send something to the BBB so they can investigate also to see if they exist but I don’t know how long it takes for them to do this.

Any company that is called a “Marketing” or “Promotions” company needs a second look. Most of these are scams. A quick google search could clear it up. Otherwise, go to this website, www.ripoffreport.com. Lots of customers and ex-employees talking about these companies.

Has anyone heard of search engine company MainStreetHost.com?

Question by Rochelle: Has anyone heard of search engine company MainStreetHost.com?
They say they will submit your site to search engines, give your site a full analysis and consultation for $ 9.95. I need search engine help but I haven’t felt comfortable about the ones who’ve called me. Any advice about this one?
Well, but my point is for $ 10 I can’t really lose anything, right? I mean, they can’t do me any harm if I am not giving my passwords and pay with PayPal, etc. Right? For $ 10 bucks I thought I’d try it. Please advise.(P.S. I need help. Trying to figure this stuff out myself is…aagggck!)

Has anyone heard or used ‘about us’ or other ‘pedia’ business directories for SEO?

Question by holacarinados: Has anyone heard or used ‘about us’ or other ‘pedia’ business directories for SEO?
There’s a website called ‘About us’ that will create a professional looking banner/info page for your small business and maintain it. It is sort of a ‘pedia’ of small biz websites that claims to rank high on search engine lists and states it gets 2,000,000 visitors per month or so. Cost is one time fee of $ 200. Anyone hear of this place or similar type directories, and if so, could they be worth it, or is it a waste of money?

Best answer:

Answer by JustinM
Hello, ignore the spammer above. And g’head and report it as spam if you would like to stop seeing them on Yahoo Answers.

Aboutus.org is a good place to list your business, but I’ve only gone with the free option. I just took a glance at a free listing I set up 2 years ago and it only has 9 page views to date. I looked at one of their current paid listings and it has 458 views. I personally don’t think it’s worth the $ 200. I would hold on to that money and spend it optimizing your own site.

If you don’t have a site (or even if you do, but don’t want to optimize it yourself) and you’re looking a place to list your small business information, I would suggest making sure you have a listing at http://local.yahoo.com/ and https://www.google.com/local/add which are both free and if you’re a local business I suggest http://local.botw.org

I think you’ll get more traffic from those 3 listings at a fraction of the cost.
