My Model Aircraft Collection 27th May 2009 – GeminiJets & others

Please check out my latest model aircraft video update: www.youtube.com Here’s an update on my model aircraft collection (sorry for the poor framerate during the video recording). I have recently re-organised my bedroom after taking down my old bunkbed which I hven’t been sleeping in for the last few months (since before Christmas I think – I’ve been sleeping on a matress on the floor recently). I have now put in a normal bed and my brother and I have loads of space in our room. He’s very happy because he can now play with his toy castle (tee hee). Unfortunatly for me, my brother finds it easy to throw things down at me at night from his bunkbed. I think it’s time to form a shield in the form of a bargain: “If you throw one more thing at me, I’ll burn you castle next bonfire night”. Anyway, during the process of re-organising my room and putting in a new bed, I shifted my shelf that had my LEGO (now in loft) over to the wall and I put my planes onto it. I put my airport next to it. Here’s a list of my current collection: GeminiJets 1:400: -British Airways Boeing 737-236 G-BKYG “Team GB 2000 Olympics” -British Airways Boeing 747-436 G-CIVV “Union Flag” (I fixed the engine) -British Airways Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWD “Union Flag” -British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMA “Union Flag” -British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMO “Union Flag” -British Airways Airbus A320-211 G-BUSG “Union Flag” -British Airways Airbus A321-231 G-EUXD “Union Flag” -British Airways BAC Concorde G-BOAE

Erik Qualman, EF Education on the future of search and social media at SES New York 2009

John Mulligan, SEO-PR, interviews Eric Qualman, Global Vice President of Online Marketing for EF Education, at SES New York 2009 about the future of search and social media. Erik describes the future of search as a competition between the major search engines and the various new social media applications such as Twitter and Facebook. As a result, Erik says the value of social media will only help to improve search. Eric goes on to describe the value of social media data with a specific example using Facebook. Erik describes the value of using social media applications that provide real-time data. Erik concludes by referencing his social media experiment as featured on Search Engine Watch to get a reading from the public on which social media application is the most popular. Nicholas Fox, Google, on future of search advertising at SES San Jose 2009

Greg Jarboe, SEO-PR, interviews keynote speaker Nicholas Fox, Business Product Management Director, Adwords, Google about Google adwords at SES San Jose 2009. Nicholas says the keyword isn’t dead but sees a future where you don’t have to give Google keywords but instead you can target your ads based on your business needs. Nicholas says with better ad formats that are more in sync with what users are searching for and with what the advertiser is trying to market, Google can do a better job of connecting the users with those advertisers. Nicholas says Google has seen great success with its conversion optimizer product, which is on a cost per acquisition basis yet still translates back into a cost per click bid per auction. Given this success, it’s easy for Google to see how advertisers are interested in tying their Adwords performance back to the fundamentals of their business. One of the big innovations in Adwords and search advertising in general, according to Nick, is the move from cost per impression to cost per click. Nick describes it as part of the natural evolution to go from cost per click to cost per acquisition. Nick says Google has hit a billion dollar run rate on its conversion optimizer product on an annual basis and Google expects that to continue. People can visit www.google.com which will redirect users to a Google forum where they can provide feedback on the future of search advertising as they see it.
