Don’t You Love Being an Adult?
Adults get to make their own choices. They don’t “have” to do anything, they choose to do it. I never realized taking a low-carb approach to dieting would fuel so much debate- add weight loss to the religion and politics ban on polite conversation. People get very passionate about it.
Here’s a tip for everyone out there who thinks they know best: Do what works for you. Thank you for your concern but I’ve read everything you are about to tell me about the dangers of low carb eating.
When it comes to losing weight, we all have our own quirks, weaknesses and cravings. We do our research, try some things out, and decide for ourselves what makes sense. That’s the beauty of being an adult- we get to decide what we eat, when and how much.
It’s great that you have an opinion, it’s great that you’ve watched the Today show and heard a nutrition guru speak, it’s great that you’ve read an article or two. Good for you! Go put all that knowledge into practice and show us all by example that you know the “right way” to lose weight.
How about this: You keep all your stories of your friends and cousins and aunts and husband’s co-workers wives dieting disasters to yourself and I’ll keep making my own choices.
Thank you for your concern, I know you mean well. Now shut it.

Well said!
And the same goes for people having surgery or are diagnosed with cancer. It’s not the time to bring up your horror stories about what surgeons accidentally left inside people or how all your relatives died of cancer!

ROTFL Scottie.
I guess it only took a week for both of us to get fed up with the exact opposite advice.
Maybe I should send my naysayers to hang around you and praise you for your low carb choices and you can send yours to me?

They have this dieting myths segment on the Today Show a lot, and to this ‘expert’ almost everything is a myth. Even things that are largely accepted as true, like drinking water to help with weight loss.
That woman is an annoying idiot.
That’s all I have to say. And that low carb diets are from Satan himself
(That was a joke)

Hi Judy!
Yes, I hear the road to hell is paved with lean ground beef and hard cheeses. It’s a false promise, I tell you! Don’t GO THERE!!
And I’ve heard the water thing too. My mother loves the Today show and told me that drinking too much water was “drowning” my organs.
Jen, if I start gasping for breath and turning blue next week, you’ll know I’ve gone one bottle of water too far…

No, Scottie, put down the water bottle! Join me on the peanut butter and coffee diet. I saw it in a Weight Watchers commercial, so it must be legit, right? Plus, I figure since I don’t like coffee, that should cut things down even more, so it should be twice as effective.
Maybe I could go on the Today show and give diet advice.
