Ok, after 2 weeks of spending time with family (”I got your favourite food in“), friends (“Another pint?”), and at SES London (”Why does the pizza have a poached egg in the middle of it?“*), it’s time to get back on this weight loss horse.
In the course of the last 2 weeks I managed to run just once. Of course, the fact that I came down with a cold didn’t really help that, although I would say that the cold most likely helped me to consume less liquid calories than may have been the case. Tonight that changes. I’m back to running & using the Bowflex. This isn’t really through choice, as I now have just slightly over a month to go before I run in a 1/2 marathon in… ...Continue reading
Today I’m wearing an outfit that I wore about 4 weeks ago… and shouldn’t have. I stuffed myself into it, held my breath and hoped for the best. But today I put it on and it fits!! Loosely, even.
Finally some concrete proof that the weight loss is having an effect- I am super motivated now. I’m even planning a trip to the gym tonight!… ...Continue reading
I really love doing Pilates. It’s very relaxing and I don’t really sweat. It improves posture and helps to tone and shape your body.
It’s a great thing to try if you’re used to being a couch potato. It does require focus and the exercises are difficult, but it’s a great way to ease into exercising if you’re not used to it.
Personally, I own the Pilates Beginning Mat Workout by Ana Caban. Ana has a workout partner, Tara, that does easier versions of the exercise, which is nice. She also gives a good introduction to pilates. I think the workout is about 20 minutes - great for your body and your schedule!… ...Continue reading
I gained a 1/2 lb back, but I’m glad it was JUST 1/2 lb. I ate a lot of bread yesterday plus a slice of cheesecake. And 3 pieces of pizza.
Did you know Walmart bakes REALLLY GOOD bread?
I also can confirm that the ready-made Philadelphia cheesecake filling is very yummy.
I did get some exercise in (kicking the soccer ball around with my daughter + pilates). But usually I don’t see the results of that for 2 days.… ...Continue reading
Yep, it happened. A day of drinking water and I’m back up to 162. I considered not reporting it, but that wouldn’t exactly be fair, would it?
I’m still pretty close to last summer’s weight. I went through my weight journal (I use an online service) and realized I’ve been fooling myself about my weight for much longer than I thought! A quick search through Flickr confirmed that… man there are some mega fat pictures of me out there.
I’m glad I’m finally doing something about it- regardless of appearance, it’s a serious health issue.… ...Continue reading
I weighed in today at 224 lbs. That’s a total weight loss of 17lbs since I started. However, I have been stuck at 224 for a week. I’m still eating pretty good - a few starches here and there but sticking to the whole wheats. I think I’m stuck because I have not been excercising. My knee has been sore for the last week. I finally got to walk yesterday but now that I am at SMX West, there will be no time for a daily walk.
Maybe when we get to San Francisco after SMX West, I’ll be able to do some walking around the city and see some more weight loss - that is if I don’t blow it in my eating this week. Original Joe’s is… ...Continue reading
I lost another 1/2 lb. over the weekend! This is much better than last weekend.
I’m also finally starting to feel energetic again. I had the flu when this fat fight first started and I read you can feel fatigued for up to 2 weeks after. So I’m glad that the fatigue is finally waning. I think it definitely helps the diet.
Also, I think it improves my chances of exercising.… ...Continue reading
Well, I finally got on the scale this morning again and was happy to see that I’m down 10lbs from the initial weigh in. I still haven’t done nearly enough exercise though so I’m fairly confident that I can keep the weight coming off. I’ve found that drinking a lot of water throughout the day has helped keep down my appetite quite a bit. I’ve also been eating Subway more and am really digging the low fat chicken teriyaki with sweet onion sauce (6 grams of fat).
So, all in all I’m pretty happy about the progress so far but need to really get on the ball with an exercise routine if I’m going to win this competition. There are about 5 weeks to go and if I recall correctly, that’s… ...Continue reading
Ok, so a couple of days ago, I was bad. But I got right back on the diet bandwagon yesterday, and I’m really glad I did. As much as I thought I loved all that fried food the other night, I really really loved my diet food last night.
We had grilled turkey burgers on whole grain kaiser rolls. It was yummy delicious good. And much much better than a ton of fried food.
Dieting doesn’t have to be hard. It just has to come with the right mindset and the realization that you can really L-O-V-E other foods besides the ones you are used to. I’ve already got a whole list going of fantastic meals that I WANT to have for the rest of my… ...Continue reading
