Home from Vacation Weigh-In

So the official weigh-in after 10 days in London and Italy?

187.

Oh yeah baby…I lost 3 pounds while on vacation in the land of pasta! Let’s hear it for hiking and walking. )

That’s 10 pounds total, though Scottie is still ahead of me. Time to get back into calorie counting mode. )

Pain, but thankfully no gain

Morning weight: 213lbs

On Saturday I decided that I’d try and see how well my knees would hold up if I didn’t wear braces for my soccer game.  Two hours later, they felt fine.  I had no soreness, no niggling pain, nothing.  I felt so good, that I decided to go to another game on Sunday.  Again, no knee braces (although they were in my bag).  I did my usual warm up exercises, and started the game.  After about 45 minutes I noticed some pain in my calf.  Unlike the last time I played when this happened, I decided to keep going.  Rather nicely I scored a hat-trick (3 goals), which was a first for me, given that I usually play back in defence, but we had a really good player… ...Continue reading

Exercise, Exercise, Exercise!

Food: OK.  Water: Very good. Exercise: Pitiful.

While I’ve dropped the ball on counting my calories, I’m in a routine now where I pretty much have a good idea of what I’m eating and I’m keeping it in line.  Adding fruits and veggies to my proteins and starting to balance it all out now that I’m past the induction phase of low carbing.

I drink my water faithfully, about  100oz a day and I’m really starting to see a difference in my skin.  I’ve always had bad skin and lately, age has started showing as well but after 7 weeks of daily water I’m really pleased with how it looks.  Smoother, less red, overall healthier! Yay, water!

When it comes to exercise, I stink.  I walk or do a flight of stairs at… ...Continue reading

I’m Baaaaaaaaaaack…..

I know, I know…you’ve all spent the last eleven days sitting around your monitors trying to stifle sobs of anguish over the lack of photographs of my meals in your RSS feeds. You wondered what you’d do with yourself…how you’d go on.

Ok, ok, so actually, you REALLY wondered if I could stay on the Fat Fighting wagon while in London and Italy.

Now there’s no possible way I could take the time to post day by day breakdowns of everything I ate. (Though I’ll post a collage and link you to everything over at Flickr if you are curious.) There was also no way for me to know what the calorie counts of most things were. That meant I had to use common sense to try and make good food choices… ...Continue reading

The Day After Weigh-In Weigh-In

I don’t generally like to weigh in more than once a week, but yesterday’s gain was disappointing, so I snuck a peek at the scale this morning.

I lost those 2 pounds again! Woot! Maybe it was an anomaly. In any case, I’m back on track. Whew!… ...Continue reading

Official Benchmark February 29

On this leap day, I weight in at 161.2.

I can honestly say I never thought I’d be excited to see those numbers on a scale.  For most of my life, I’ve considered 150 to be the outer limit of fat for me… I am horrified to realize just how far I’ve slid off the mark. (I remember going to the gym for a consultation in 2004 and leaving in tears because I weighed 146!)  But considering where I started on Jan 10 (176.4) I am in fact, thrilled to see the numbers going down.

7 weeks I’ve been dieting, 15.2 pounds lost. That’s 2.17 pounds a week, which is about where I’d planned.  I am one third of the way through this campaign and it’s not been so bad- getting started… ...Continue reading

One Month Weigh-In

Today officially marks the halfway point in this challenge and it’s time to weigh in. It’s not a good one for me. I’ve gained back 2 pounds, so I’m now at 182.2. That means I’ve officially lost 8 pounds since I began.

The last week has not been an easy one on the diet. I’ve cheated some and haven’t exercised at all. Life got in the way, yes, but I still have to try to muscle through life’s “in the way” moments.

Hopefully, next week’s weigh-in will be much better.

Later, y’all.

We need your support! Even if it’s just wishing us luck every now and then, we’d be grateful. Of course, linking to the contest or becoming a sponsor would be very cool too, and… ...Continue reading

Feb 27th Recap

Starting weight - 215 lbs

Breakfast - Weetabix

Lunch - Some lentil bean thingy

Dinner - Tuna, onion & cheese wrap

Snack - a few tortilla chips

Exercise: 20 minutes on the bowflex.  The running didn’t happen as my desktop passed away, so I instead spent most of the evening buying a new one and setting it up.
