Does SEO Help Search Ranking?

www.lockergnome.com lockergnome.net Tom Maxwell, a member of the LockerGnome community, asked: “Does SEO help search ranking?” Search engine optimization (SEO) is a series of methods used by content creators to help improve their ranking on various search engines including Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Having a higher search ranking means that people searching for a specific topic will be more likely to see your content before anyone else. Doing things like giving your content specific titles, using keywords and frequently searched phrases in the body of the page, and maintaining a set of standards across your site are great ways to start with SEO. More recently, search engines like Google and Bing have started to use social media as part of its search algorithms. Are people sharing your content? Has someone you associate with on Google+ or Facebook shared a specific link related to the subject you’re searching for? These may very well be the biggest factors in ranking a site moving forward. What do you think? Does SEO improve your search ranking? lockergnome.com http facebook.com

    Hope your neck’s ok
    You already know the answer
Just get some video on your website
ensure it’s enabled for mobile devices,
    and the answer is:

real video SEO crushes and currently, gets you to the #1 rank on google, unless someone else has already optimized a website with video for that particuliar search (prior to you), ie, real video thumbnails start to appear and then rise to google page one.

This tactic of using social circle to influence search results has been done for a long time. Google is just getting to the circle late (no pun intended). I have not been a Google fan for a very long time (since 2000). Just my 2cents!

I hope Google doesn’t get involved in alcoholics anonymous - They wouldn’t allow Chris to be anonymous in those circles :P

The most important thing behind SEO, is exactly that – doing the right thing. And I don’t mean finding the magic Google trigger, I mean doing “the right thing” – the right thing as a webmaster, proper design, taking care of your alt and title tags, always having your title in an h1 tag; having few tags, having HTML that validates on the w3c validator

then worrying about proper backlinks and outbound links, not from spam sites

I hate those f’rs who abuse SEO to muddy up search engine to get pay per clicks. I had the displeasure of dealing with one of those dic’s’ computers who took a crap.

“You might use Bing!” Ha! You must be joking! I never use bing. “Google it” is practically a phrase by now, someone asks you something and you don’t know the answer you automatically reply: “Google it” :D

A combination of Social media + SEO = better Search Ranking. Are you guys aware that Google added a Social Plugin Tracking tool for Google Analytics that measures the impact of different social activities on your website?

Of course it does. SEO isn’t all about content and code (on-page SEO) though. Quality backlinks seem to hold the most weight. And don’t get involved in black hat, unless you want to get irreversibly banned from the search engines.
