I Was A Bad Dieter Tonight

I was bad tonight. Really bad. I went out for a family reunion kind of dinner tonight at an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet restaurant.

I ate.

A lot.

Of mostly fried seafood.

Ugh. I’m not happy about it. Tomorrow, I go back to eating the right things, not just because I want to lose weight. Nope, it’s about a lot more than that now. It’s because I feel better when I eat better. And that’s truly important.

A Positive Weigh-In

Another Friday has arrived, so that means it’s time for me to officially weigh in. What did the scale say this morning?

180.6

That’s exactly 10 pounds less than I started out. Nice!

Life has tried hard to get in the way of my weight loss plans this past week. It hasn’t been easy to avoid indulging in comfort foods, but I’ve given it a pretty good shot. So, another week down. Onward.

Off To A Not So Yummy Start Today

Yesterday I bought a couple boxes of Boca Southwestern Breakfast Wraps. I love breakfast burritos, so I looked forward to this. Yuck! Ptooey! Blech! Even the smell was awful, but the taste…ew! One bite and it hit the garbage can.

Then, for lunch, I was going to have some shrimp cocktail. I’d bought the already prepared (frozen), placed in a round container, in a decorative manner, boiled shrimp with cocktail sauce in the middle. Let it thaw overnight in the refrigerator. Opened it up for lunch today. Not quite as icky as the breakfast wrap was, but not appetizing either. There wasn’t anything “wrong” with the shrimp, except they just tasted funny. Not as in spoiled…just funny. So two bites of that, and history.

So much for trying new things. Back to mini whole wheat bagels and south beach pizzas for me.

I Would Tell You If I Knew

This weekend is already a forgotten memory for me. I’d tell you what I ate this weekend, if only I remembered. However, I had the grandkids for the weekend, and well…they tend to suck the strength and memory right out of me. I think I mostly ate right this weekend, but I’m not absolutely sure of anything.

So, let’s forget about the past and move on to the future. My main goal this week is to increase my exercise level. I’m going to try to walk farther and longer, and do more of the dumbbell exercises than I did last week. I’ll let you know if I achieve my goals or not. Meals will probably be about the same as they have been lately, but if I find anything new that is either wonderful or horrible, I’ll report back on it.

Later, y’all.

I Was Bad Last Night

The grandkids are here for the weekend. I’m using that as my excuse, ok? Late last night, after spending an hour or so rocking the newest bundle of babyness to sleep, I had a craving that was fierce. I needed a “snacky-snack”. That’s what we call it here when we refer to something like the dreaded…chips. Oh I wanted chips bad. So I snuck into the kitchen, very, very quietly. I told myself it was so I wouldn’t wake up the grandbabies, but I really just hiding my badness from any adult presence in the house. Shhhh….

Anyway, I quietly pulled out the bag of whole wheat tortilla chips (which I actually like better than regular tortilla chips, but don’t be fooled…they actually have a few MORE calories than their counterpart). Whilst I attempted to not make a lot of noise with the chips bag (it’s hard to do), I poured a bit of salsa into a bowl, and snuck back here to my office with both.

Oh, it tasted so good. I ate about 20 of those bad boys before I finally decided I’d had enough to satisfy my craving. I’m not sure how many calories I consumed, but it’s fair to say it at least equaled one of my meals for the day. /sigh

Oh well, here’s to hoping for a craving-less day.

Week 2 Weigh-In

It’s that time again, when I have to step on the scale and see what’s what. Today’s results: 183.0 lbs, which is a nice 7 pound drop.

I’m on my way to a healthier, more active life. Onward!

Never Accuse Me Of Having No Willpower

I’m here today to prove to you that I have the willpower of a giant. Ok, not sure if giants have willpower, but whatever has GREAT willpower…I have the willpower of that thing. Why, you ask?

Well, a family member dropped by a few minutes ago, and said, “I know you’re on a diet, but I brought sandwiches anyway”.

1. They weren’t sandwiches. They were foot-long poboys. Fried shrimp poboys. Fully dressed (that means topped with everything). 12 inches of overstuffed poboys that probably weigh in at 2000 calories or more.

overstuffed shrimp poboy

2. Have I ever mentioned that shrimp poboys are right up there in the top 5 foods in my repetoire of foods I adore? No? Well, let me mention it now then. I LOVE FRIED SHRIMP POBOYS.

3. I didn’t eat it. That’s right. Instead, I pulled out another Lean Cuisine pizza and ate that instead. The poboy is now in the garbage can.

Now tell me I don’t have amazing willpower. :D

Can You Hear Me Panting?

Ok, I bought a pedometer today. Those things are really cool. I just finished fast-walking 1,057 steps, going .4 miles, and burning 28 calories. Not far for fit people, but for me, that’s enough to make me pant for the next 1/2 hour or so. Whew!

Had a Healthy Choice Panini for lunch that was pretty tasty, so that one gets a thumbs up from me.

Still no decision on dinner menu. Might be too tired from the walk to think about that. :)

Later, y’all.

Loved My Diet Dinner Tonight!

Woot! Oh man, I’m crazy about the meal we had tonight. This is another one that is going on the long-term, gotta have it, again and again, list. Grilled Portobella Mushroom Burgers.

Basically, the portobella mushroom caps were grilled on the top rack of the grill (where the buns go) along with the whole grain buns for about 5 minutes. A little homemade honey mustard, lettuce and tomato to top it off, and voila, mucho deliciouso! MMM-mmm-good!

I’m guessing that one was about 350 calories or so.

For lunch, I had one of the frozen dealios that I got at the grocery store this morning. Microwaved a South Beach Diet Pizza, and it was pretty darn good. Thumbs up on that one.

Hey, in case you haven’t noticed, I’ve got a little list of who lost how much weight on the home page of this site (in the sidebar), so y’all can easily keep track - over at seosfightfat.com.

That’s all for now, y’all. Later!

Time For Some Fast Food

I need fast food. No, not the kind that comes from McD’s or Burger King (although that would be lovely), but the kind that is fast. As in, no major cooking efforts. It’s a drag to always cook, cook, cook. Some nights, we just want instant food, you know? So I’m heading to the grocery store this morning aiming to buy a few South Beach and Healthy Choice frozen entree thingys. Occasionally, it’s nice to just quickly pop something in the microwave and this should do the trick.

I’ll report back on whether or not any of them actually taste any good or not. Later, y’all.
