Question by Nathalie: What SEO tools / sites do you use?
I have been out of the loop for a while and am looking for good resources to use for SEO research for PPC advertising.

I used to use Overture’s keyword tool to not only find good keywords but get a good idea of the number of searches on the keywords.

This tool is no longer available.

Google’s interface doesn’t seem to have an easy way to estimate search traffic before adding keywords (unless I’m just missing where to do that)

The free version Wordtracker is ok (http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com)

Does anyone have a compiled list of good resources of SEO tools (both paid and free are fine, but I prefer free of course) that you use?

My bookmarks are way out of date from when I was more info this.

Looking for things like:

- keyword research
- estimate of PPC pricing on keywords and traffic
- tools to check my web site for errors / seo-unfriendliness
..etc

I want to create an online boater exam course. There are currently 2-3 online courses (you have to be approved by a national association) which offer a course leading to a boating safety certificate in the 42 states which offer one. The material is straightforward and there is not much difference between the courses; I have a different approach to wrong answers and review of material which will make me competitive, but not superior; to the others. My question is this: I don’t know how the other sites (found by Googling boat exam or boat course) advertise or do SEO, and I need to know what I would have to do with either SEO or a “sponsored site” to get my site on the first page. (There isn’t any affordable way of advertising off the Internet.) Also I need to know the probable cost per month of such SEO or “sponsored site” or other Internet advertising.

Question by dfasf d: SEO, I’m clueless. Is there a software program that I can buy, or company I can pay for decent results?
Business is decent, but time-consuming. Paid search advertising is producing solid results, but I don’t have the time to put into SEO. ALL of my keywords are VERY specific. I wholesale, so all of my keyword phrases include wholesale at the beginning of the phrase, so I only want customers that are searching for “wholesale widgets”. What are good, solid software programs or companies I can pay to rank me high on google when my specific key phrases are searched?
Oh, I’ve tried google adwords, but my keyword phrases are too limited, and google wants $ 5 per click to list my ads….yes, the ads are well written, consise, and descriptive.

I’m ideally looking to pay a couple of hundred bucks on the front end
As far as great content, my site is basically pics of the products I wholesale, and a pricelist (not a lot of text).

For links, I’ve posted up a lot of links in craigslist.
