Feb 27th Recap

Starting weight - 215 lbs

Breakfast - Weetabix

Lunch - Some lentil bean thingy

Dinner - Tuna, onion & cheese wrap

Snack - a few tortilla chips

Exercise: 20 minutes on the bowflex.  The running didn’t happen as my desktop passed away, so I instead spent most of the evening buying a new one and setting it up.

For those that didn’t believe me about the poached egg pizza in London, here’s the proof…

Poached Egg Pizza

Back on the horse

Ok, after 2 weeks of spending time with family (”I got your favourite food in“), friends (“Another pint?”), and at SES London (”Why does the pizza have a poached egg in the middle of it?“*), it’s time to get back on this weight loss horse.

In the course of the last 2 weeks I managed to run just once.  Of course, the fact that I came down with a cold didn’t really help that, although I would say that the cold most likely helped me to consume less liquid calories than may have been the case.  Tonight that changes.  I’m back to running & using the Bowflex.  This isn’t really through choice, as I now have just slightly over a month to go before I run in a 1/2 marathon in… ...Continue reading

I’m Stuck

I weighed in today at 224 lbs. That’s a total weight loss of 17lbs since I started. However, I have been stuck at 224 for a week. I’m still eating pretty good - a few starches here and there but sticking to the whole wheats. I think I’m stuck because I have not been excercising. My knee has been sore for the last week. I finally got to walk yesterday but now that I am at SMX West, there will be no time for a daily walk.

Maybe when we get to San Francisco after SMX West, I’ll be able to do some walking around the city and see some more weight loss - that is if I don’t blow it in my eating this week. Original Joe’s is… ...Continue reading

Back On The Diet Bandwagon

Ok, so a couple of days ago, I was bad. But I got right back on the diet bandwagon yesterday, and I’m really glad I did. As much as I thought I loved all that fried food the other night, I really really loved my diet food last night.

We had grilled turkey burgers on whole grain kaiser rolls. It was yummy delicious good. And much much better than a ton of fried food.

Dieting doesn’t have to be hard. It just has to come with the right mindset and the realization that you can really L-O-V-E other foods besides the ones you are used to. I’ve already got a whole list going of fantastic meals that I WANT to have for the rest of my… ...Continue reading

My Ironic Weight Loss Past

In 2004 I created a weight loss blog because I wanted to lose 30 pounds in 2 months. But I kept doing more and more web stuff and less and less exercise. Eventually I gave up on that blog, and decided to give it to my mom, who has blogged about weight loss (and lots of funny yardwork stories) for the past few years. )

When I started that blog in May of 2004 some people told me I was rediculous for wanting to lose 30 pounds in 2 months, but if you look at SEOsFightFat David lost 16 pounds in less than a month, and in 2006 I actually lost 40 pounds in 2 months. But losing that much required me to go to the gym twice or… ...Continue reading

A Bit Embarassed

Before I met my wife I lost 40 pounds in 2 months. But back then all I did was work out because I got addicted to it and wanted to be in really good shape when we met.

Sometimes when a girl gets married she stops caring so much and puts on 20 or 30 pounds. Well my wife did not do that, but I have been doing so much stuff that I just sorta let my health go, unfortunately. Because I lost so much weight before I met her in such a short period of time it was easy to gain it back. Plus I gained extra. I am too embarassed to even write down a starting weight, but I am well above everyone else on the list.

In addition to… ...Continue reading

Stress

Changing business models (and programmers in the middle of the change) can be ugly and time consuming. For the last few weeks I only slept like every other night, and used caffiene to help keep me up as needed when I was trying to put the finishing touches on launching our community and SEO training program.  Donna gave me the thumbs up on the new program, in spite of my lack of blogging here.

The good thing is, I went from a person who answered email like 4 hours a day to a person who has maybe 1 hour of email. And because my business model is now more interactive I ensure that I transfer more value to customers.

After reinventing my business model I need to work more at reinventing me…… ...Continue reading

I Was A Bad Dieter Tonight

I was bad tonight. Really bad. I went out for a family reunion kind of dinner tonight at an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet restaurant.

I ate.

A lot.

Of mostly fried seafood.

Ugh. I’m not happy about it. Tomorrow, I go back to eating the right things, not just because I want to lose weight. Nope, it’s about a lot more than that now. It’s because I feel better when I eat better. And that’s truly important.… ...Continue reading

A Positive Weigh-In

Another Friday has arrived, so that means it’s time for me to officially weigh in. What did the scale say this morning?

180.6

That’s exactly 10 pounds less than I started out. Nice!

Life has tried hard to get in the way of my weight loss plans this past week. It hasn’t been easy to indulge in comfort foods, but I’ve given it a pretty good shot. So, another week down. Onward.

We need your support! Even if it’s just wishing us luck every now and then, we’d be grateful. Of course, linking to the contest or becoming a sponsor would be very cool too, and would be appreciated by the winning charity, I’m sure!… ...Continue reading

I’ve Been Bad

Ok, I’ll be frank. I’ve kind of fallen off the wagon in the last week or so. I allowed myself to be pulled into my old habits, and am a little embarrased about it.

Accordingly, I’ve gained back just about everything I lost earlier. I’m officially 206 pounds again. Its not looking particularly promising for me either. I’m off to SMX West next week, then SES New York in another 3 weeks … and these trips aren’t great for those counting calories or trying to exercise.

As I’ve said from the beginning though … whatever I do has to be sustainable.

Its interesting, I still haven’t been able to get into an exercise routine. I’m hoping once the warmer weather arrives in a month’s time, and the snow and ice melts, I’ll be… ...Continue reading
