Another Friday Weigh-In

Well, it’s weigh-in day, and there’s only two more weeks to go, so what’s the scale say today? I seem to be forever stuck at the 10 lb. loss mark, as once again the scale shows 180. Ah well. The good thing is that we’ve completely changed our eating lifestyle, and that’s bound to be better for us in the long run. I’m not quite so worried about anyone in my family keeling over from a heart attack any time soon.

So, for the moment, it looks like this contest is narrowing down its potential winners. Right now, it seems to be a tight race between David and Scottie, with Jennifer and Ben having the best chances of overtaking one of them. However, there’s… ...Continue reading

Veggie Of The Year Award

If you don’t mind, I’d like to nominate eggplant as the Veggie Of The Year. Eggplant is one of those foods that can “be” something else, in that it can be a great substitute for meat in many recipes. We just had a diet version of eggplant parmigiana and it was incredibly delicious. Here’s a good recipe for it, if you want to try it out.

eggplant

Want more reasons to love eggplant?

Eggplant is low in saturated fat, sodium, and cholesterol, and is high in dietary fiber, folate, potassium, manganese, vitamin C, vitamin K, thiamin, niacin, vitamin B6, and lots of other good stuff.

So, since I love eggplant, and it also happens to be purple (how many purple foods are there?), I nominate it as… ...Continue reading

Quick Weigh-In

Running around doing lots of stuff today, so only time for a quick weigh-in. Darn. Still stuck at 180. Haven’t moved down at all this week. Really must try to get some exercise in, but being super-busy is making that hard to do. Must.try.harder.… ...Continue reading

The Good, The Bad, and the not so Ugly

The Good, The Bad and the not so Ugly
The Good

After my calf strain on Sunday I decided to give exercise a rest for a few days, so on Tuesday I had decided that it was time. Then a co-worker, Nate, who’d injured his knee the weekend before went for a run and managed to get 1/4 mile out before his IT band started causing him pain… maybe I’d wait another couple of days, just to make sure that my calf was better.

So last night I climbed back on the treadmill and started running, again with no knee braces. After 7.6 miles in 68:45 I stopped. No real knee pain, and over 1400 calories burnt off. Nice, because that made up for

Gourmet Diet Dinner Tonight

Tonight’s diet menu rocked! We had crawfish-stuffed portobello mushrooms, which ended up being about 250 calories, yummy delicious, and extremely filling. Here’s how it got put together. Last night, we ate boiled crawfish (which was also yummy). We then peeled the leftovers and put them in the fridge to be used tonight. (You could substitute shrimp or crabmeat if you wanted). So, we just mixed together the crawfish tails, some sauteed bellpeppers and onions, and some panko japanese bread crumbs. That mixture was scooped on top of giant portobello mushrooms with just a light sprinkle of lowfat mozzarella cheese on top. Baked those bad boys in the oven for a few minutes, and wow! Talk about good! Woot!… ...Continue reading

Here We Start Month Two

Haven’t updated lately due to the fact that I was at SMX West last week combined with a short trip to San Francisco and Wine Country. I ate bad. I avoided the sweets such as deserts and candy, however, I ate some starches and of the white variety. Pizza, breaded wings and pasta at Original Joe’s. Besides that, I was typically drinking Guiness in the evening which is likened oil (although it doesn’t taste like oil).

I was afraid I’d gain ten pound or more by the time I got back. I weighed in this morning and the scales said 225. Only 1 pound gained after a week of what I think of as “bad” eating habits.

Now I must confess that yesterday, I weighed 227 so in reality, I gained 3… ...Continue reading

Pain, but thankfully no gain

Morning weight: 213lbs

On Saturday I decided that I’d try and see how well my knees would hold up if I didn’t wear braces for my soccer game.  Two hours later, they felt fine.  I had no soreness, no niggling pain, nothing.  I felt so good, that I decided to go to another game on Sunday.  Again, no knee braces (although they were in my bag).  I did my usual warm up exercises, and started the game.  After about 45 minutes I noticed some pain in my calf.  Unlike the last time I played when this happened, I decided to keep going.  Rather nicely I scored a hat-trick (3 goals), which was a first for me, given that I usually play back in defence, but we had a really good player… ...Continue reading

The Day After Weigh-In Weigh-In

I don’t generally like to weigh in more than once a week, but yesterday’s gain was disappointing, so I snuck a peek at the scale this morning.

I lost those 2 pounds again! Woot! Maybe it was an anomaly. In any case, I’m back on track. Whew!… ...Continue reading

One Month Weigh-In

Today officially marks the halfway point in this challenge and it’s time to weigh in. It’s not a good one for me. I’ve gained back 2 pounds, so I’m now at 182.2. That means I’ve officially lost 8 pounds since I began.

The last week has not been an easy one on the diet. I’ve cheated some and haven’t exercised at all. Life got in the way, yes, but I still have to try to muscle through life’s “in the way” moments.

Hopefully, next week’s weigh-in will be much better.

Later, y’all.

We need your support! Even if it’s just wishing us luck every now and then, we’d be grateful. Of course, linking to the contest or becoming a sponsor would be very cool too, and… ...Continue reading
