Down 10. I’m Feeling Lucky.

Well, I started at 206 and ended at 196. (I’m posting today because I’ll be gone a few days).

I’m pretty sure I didn’t win, since it looks like others have lost more, Great Job Everyone!.

Thanks Donna for coming up with this. Who knows, you may have even added a year to my life!

It’s great that several of us are now in better health, as well as a charity will benefit. Awesome!

I’ve still got 20 pounds to go, and though this contest is over, I’m not done.

Goals and Goals

As the contest draws to a close, I thought that I should really try and find my password so I could post over here again ;)

What’s been going on with me for the last few weeks?  Firstly, just over 2 weeks ago, I managed to do a 10 mile run, in only 84:30, which is absolutely, fantastically well inside my goal time of 2 hours for the national 1/2 marathon tomorrow.   Slightly under 2 weeks ago my left calf went again while playing soccer.  Since then I’ve not run, or played soccer.  I can feel slight twinges every now and again, but the real acid test is going to be tomorrow.  Will it hold?

I hope that it will, also because I’ve now signed up… ...Continue reading

Where Have I Been?

Well, I vanished two weeks ago to head to SES NY, knowing I wouldn’t be able to post much while I was there.

Unfortunately, I got sick while there and came home with a case of Bronchitis so bad I’m STILL down sick a full week later. That means I haven’t been able to make it to the gym for two full weeks. It also means that while I’m tracking my food and taking pictures, I haven’t had time to post them here.

I stayed pretty darn on track in NY. As with the Italy trip, I mostly ate what I wanted, when I wanted it…but it’s interesting to see how my “wants” have changed. Overall, I want healthy food. I’ve gotten used to it. Empty calorie “crap” just doesn’t sound good… ...Continue reading

Finally Got The 10 Pound Monkey Off My Back

Woot! Finally, after several weeks, the scale has moved…downward! I’m now at 178, so that makes it a 12 pound loss, rather than the 10 I’ve been seeing for so long now. It won’t be enough for me to win this little contest, but that’s ok. I think we’ve all benefitted in some way from this, whether we technically “win” or not.

Happy Day!… ...Continue reading

Overcoming Yet Another Obstacle

I haven’t posted in a while because I haven’t been doing well in the fight against fat. Here’s what happened.

At the beginning of the month, my husband got new insurance at his new job. I knew we probably wouldn’t get the insurance cards right away, and started spacing out my Synthroid. Because I wasn’t taking my Synthroid every day, it made it all that much more difficult to not only keep the pounds off but lose more weight. In fact, I gained and also went up to 166.

I didn’t help myself any. I figured it was a lost cause, so I did things like get Wendy’s fries and dip them in my chocolate frosty.

And then I had some kind of digestive situation that wreaked havoc on my body, and left… ...Continue reading

Maintaining

Well, I’ve been slacking more than a bit on posting here. However, I’ve actually been doing decent in at least keeping the weight off. I am still down 10lbs from when we started the challenge and have been getting full while eating smaller portions which is a good thing. I still haven’t done much excercise, however, I am going to be playing church league softball in a couple of weeks and that should help get my lazy butt moving.

So far the only weight loss tips I have would be to drink a lot of water every day (I drink about a gallon per day, the correct amount depends on your body size) and to eat slower. Apparently it takes a while for your stomach to relay to your brain that… ...Continue reading

Easter Candy!! Everywhere!!

So, what do YOU do when there are two marshmallow chocolate eggs left over and 2 peeps?  I mean, you can’t give some kids more than the others… they KNOW.

All this Easter candy around is driving me crazy.  I’ve absently eaten a handful of M&M’s, a small peanut butter egg and a couple jelly beans so far… I didn’t even want them.  They were just there.

I will be glad to get back home and back to work and back in my routine!… ...Continue reading

Counting Down To The Finale!

It has been awhile since I checked in here. Been really busy. So I weighed in today at 223 which is amazing seeing how bad I have been. Don’t get me wrong - I haven’t gone completely back to my evil eating ways. However, I have cheated a little here, a little there.

For example, I’m trying to stay away from white breads, pasta, rice, etc. Monday I ate white rice, Wednesday I ate pizza (although really thin pizza) and yesterday, meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Nevertheless I am two pounds lighter than the last time I checked in here. Must be the smaller portions combined with exercise.
I was hoping to make another push this week to lose 10 pounds or so by limiting myself to lean meats and vegetables. That hasn’t… ...Continue reading

Weekly Weigh In

Without further ado:

152.6

Un-freakin-believable. It’s been a rough week with soccer practice starting and dance classes for my kids so I feel like I’ve hardly eaten at all. I’ve been living on fast food salads and granola bars for the most part.

In addition to the daily stair climbing, I’m coaching my 8-year-old’s soccer team this season, so my exercise has gone way up. For me, part of serious dieting includes getting to the point where I’m not too interested in eating anyway, so it’s really easy to refuse a bite of someone’s cookie or “clean up” the kids’ extra food. Honestly, that’s a huge source of useless calories in my past.

The boredom eating has been replaced with flavored waters and a quick flight of stairs and… ...Continue reading
