03/06/08 - Dinner

More experimental chicken. This time I was looking for oven fried chicken but didn’t want to use breadcrumbs. I had some honey mustard pretzles in the cupboard, so I crushed those in my Magic Bullet and decided to use them as coating. Since I’m watching calories I decided I didn’t want to use eggs… ...Continue reading

Gourmet Diet Dinner Tonight

Tonight’s diet menu rocked! We had crawfish-stuffed portobello mushrooms, which ended up being about 250 calories, yummy delicious, and extremely filling. Here’s how it got put together. Last night, we ate boiled crawfish (which was also yummy). We then peeled the leftovers and put them in the fridge to be used tonight. (You could substitute shrimp or crabmeat if you wanted). So, we just mixed together the crawfish tails, some sauteed bellpeppers and onions, and some panko japanese bread crumbs. That mixture was scooped on top of giant portobello mushrooms with just a light sprinkle of lowfat mozzarella cheese on top. Baked those bad boys in the oven for a few minutes, and wow! Talk about good! Woot!… ...Continue reading

Meals for the Day - 03/05/08

03/05/08 - Breakfast

Another Zone bar and an apple. Of course Emmitt ended up stealing half of the apple. (He’s a little apple fiend lately.) Twas ok as I ended up eating half an apple later in the day as a snack. That saved me taking a picture and recalculating the calories for this meal as I broke even.

Breakfast: 240 calories, 6 grams fat, 35.5 grams carbs, 5 grams fiber, 14 grams protein

03/05/08 - Lunch

Mmm, more salad. Same as yesterday (baby spinach, mixed greens, cranberries, apples, strawberries and cheese) but I threw some grilled chicken breast on top to add some protein and make it a bit more filling.

Lunch: 458 calories, 10.5 grams fat, 61.5 grams carbs… ...Continue reading

Here We Start Month Two

Haven’t updated lately due to the fact that I was at SMX West last week combined with a short trip to San Francisco and Wine Country. I ate bad. I avoided the sweets such as deserts and candy, however, I ate some starches and of the white variety. Pizza, breaded wings and pasta at Original Joe’s. Besides that, I was typically drinking Guiness in the evening which is likened oil (although it doesn’t taste like oil).

I was afraid I’d gain ten pound or more by the time I got back. I weighed in this morning and the scales said 225. Only 1 pound gained after a week of what I think of as “bad” eating habits.

Now I must confess that yesterday, I weighed 227 so in reality, I gained 3… ...Continue reading

Home from Vacation Weigh-In

So the official weigh-in after 10 days in London and Italy?

187.

Oh yeah baby…I lost 3 pounds while on vacation in the land of pasta! Let’s hear it for hiking and walking. )

That’s 10 pounds total, though Scottie is still ahead of me. Time to get back into calorie counting mode. )

Pain, but thankfully no gain

Morning weight: 213lbs

On Saturday I decided that I’d try and see how well my knees would hold up if I didn’t wear braces for my soccer game.  Two hours later, they felt fine.  I had no soreness, no niggling pain, nothing.  I felt so good, that I decided to go to another game on Sunday.  Again, no knee braces (although they were in my bag).  I did my usual warm up exercises, and started the game.  After about 45 minutes I noticed some pain in my calf.  Unlike the last time I played when this happened, I decided to keep going.  Rather nicely I scored a hat-trick (3 goals), which was a first for me, given that I usually play back in defence, but we had a really good player… ...Continue reading

Exercise, Exercise, Exercise!

Food: OK.  Water: Very good. Exercise: Pitiful.

While I’ve dropped the ball on counting my calories, I’m in a routine now where I pretty much have a good idea of what I’m eating and I’m keeping it in line.  Adding fruits and veggies to my proteins and starting to balance it all out now that I’m past the induction phase of low carbing.

I drink my water faithfully, about  100oz a day and I’m really starting to see a difference in my skin.  I’ve always had bad skin and lately, age has started showing as well but after 7 weeks of daily water I’m really pleased with how it looks.  Smoother, less red, overall healthier! Yay, water!

When it comes to exercise, I stink.  I walk or do a flight of stairs at… ...Continue reading
