Dance Your Way Skinny?

OK, maybe “dance” is too strong of a word. Before I go any further, Happy Valentine’s Day, all!

I read somewhere (that I can’t find now) that you burn a few extra calories by listening to music. Not much, but it stimulates brain activity and that can’t be bad, can it?

Since my MP3 player disappeared last summer I haven’t really done the music-while-working thing, but my oldest got a nice iPod for Christmas…

Putting on headphones is like going into your own little world and it’s been rare that I’ve had an opportunity to have my own little world. Either I’ve had kids to listen out for, employees coming in and out, phone ringing constantly or even officemates just talking to me the whole time. It’s a rare… ...Continue reading

Pants Fitting Looser

Well, the scale said I was down to 233 this morning but even better, almost every pair of jeans I own now require me to wear a belt. So, that takes me to a total loss of 7lbs so far and another 23 or so to go.

One thing that I think is really holding me back is my schedule at work. We’ve been slammed and unfortunately I can’t take much of a lunch break. So, I end up eating fast food even though I know it’s probably the worst thing possible for losing weight (and maybe just health in general). My wife has been great about buying veggies and no fat dressing (used as a dip) for snacks and such, but that… ...Continue reading

Quaker Mini Delights Caramel Drizzle = OMG

Have you ever tried the 90 calorie pack of Quaker Mini Delights Caramel Drizzles? OMG. I’ve died and gone to heaven. Of course the only real problem is that now I want to eat about 50 of these little bags in one sitting, which wouldn’t be cool. But geez, this stuff tastes so good, I want to do a little dance. Totally not kidding. Like…my tastebuds are already dancing around and I can hear a mariachi band playing down in my tummy.

If you want a diet snack, get yourself to the store and get yourself some of these bad boys. OMG.… ...Continue reading

Happy Valentine’s Day, Pass The Chocolate

valentinecartoon.gifSo far I’ve been able to avoid dipping into the kids Valentine chocolate, soooo hard for someone who believes chocolate is the fifth and most important food group.

Down to 187 today, have kept to the walking plan and will start using the machines in the gym this weekend when the trainer has time to show me how.  I’ve got a bad back and can’t take a chance of pulling something.

Also less chance of someone I know seeing me act like an uncoordinated dork.

Happy Valentine’s Day. … ...Continue reading

Meals for the Day - 02/13/08

02/13/08 - Breakfast

It’s a good thing this cereal is tasty, because I’me ating it pretty often.

Breakfast: 265 calories, 4.5 grams fat, 44 grams carbs, 8 grams fiber, 15 grams protein

02/13/08 - Lunch

Lunch in a bento! I’d packed this cottage cheese and pineapple for Emmitt earlier in the week, but he never ate it. So, I added some carrots, celery, black olives, grape tomatoes and baby gherkins to the mix. I also used a low-carb, high-fiber tortilla to make a PB&J sandwich.

As it turned out, the pineapple had gone bad. (Well, it had gone alcoholic. I didn’t even know pineapple would do that, but wow did the bite I took have kick!) So, I ate everything BUT the… ...Continue reading

The ELF Diet….seems to be working.

So I stepped on a scale the first day of this contest (206)…and haven’t stepped back on again…..but I’m loosing weight (I’m on a new belt hole).

So week 1 I didn’t eat much….didn’t exercise much, but didn’t eat much.

I just got back from Vegas where I didn’t diet much….but I got more exercise than normal.

So now I’ll go all out and try to eat little, and exercise more.

Believe it or not, I’m trying to loose 30 pounds in 3 months….so since this is a 2 month contest, I guess I’m aiming to loose 20 pounds for this contest…..

hey, ya never know….but I’m Feeling Lucky.… ...Continue reading

Never Accuse Me Of Having No Willpower

I’m here today to prove to you that I have the willpower of a giant. Ok, not sure if giants have willpower, but whatever has GREAT willpower…I have the willpower of that thing. Why, you ask?

Well, a family member dropped by a few minutes ago, and said, “I know you’re on a diet, but I brought sandwiches anyway”.

1. They weren’t sandwiches. They were foot-long poboys. Fried shrimp poboys. Fully dressed (that means topped with everything). 12 inches of overstuffed poboys that probably weigh in at 2000 calories or more.

2. Have I ever mentioned that shrimp poboys are right up there in the top 5 foods in my repetoire of foods I adore? No?… ...Continue reading

February 13, 2008 - 164.0

I’m holding steady, but I thought I was going to have lost more weight. The reason is because I thought I was losing water weight. Yes, I’ve been peeing large quantities.

After reading Donna’s post about Lean Cuisine, I think I will pick up some of their frozen meals at the grocery store today. I used to eat them a lot for lunch. You know, a few years ago when I weighed 130-135!… ...Continue reading
