Stress

Changing business models (and programmers in the middle of the change) can be ugly and time consuming. For the last few weeks I only slept like every other night, and used caffiene to help keep me up as needed when I was trying to put the finishing touches on launching our community and SEO training program.  Donna gave me the thumbs up on the new program, in spite of my lack of blogging here.

The good thing is, I went from a person who answered email like 4 hours a day to a person who has maybe 1 hour of email. And because my business model is now more interactive I ensure that I transfer more value to customers.

After reinventing my business model I need to work more at reinventing me…… ...Continue reading

I Was A Bad Dieter Tonight

I was bad tonight. Really bad. I went out for a family reunion kind of dinner tonight at an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet restaurant.

I ate.

A lot.

Of mostly fried seafood.

Ugh. I’m not happy about it. Tomorrow, I go back to eating the right things, not just because I want to lose weight. Nope, it’s about a lot more than that now. It’s because I feel better when I eat better. And that’s truly important.… ...Continue reading

158 Fast Food Meals for 500 Calories or Less

For anyone using a low-calorie strategy to lose weight, you’re going to want to bookmark this list. It is possible - very possible - to eat low-cal at fast food restaurants. Here’s a list of 158 meals that you can eat at the most popular fast food chains in the country.

This list assumes that you will be drinking a Diet soda or Water!

And don’t think that you can just eat a salad and be fine. Many salads at these establishments break the 500 calorie mark - some without even adding dressing.

And lo-cal dieters might want to be careful when you go to Arby’s. I was only able to create one real meal - one of their salads with the corresponding dressing. Sure, there are some Arby’s sandwiches under 500… ...Continue reading

A Positive Weigh-In

Another Friday has arrived, so that means it’s time for me to officially weigh in. What did the scale say this morning?

180.6

That’s exactly 10 pounds less than I started out. Nice!

Life has tried hard to get in the way of my weight loss plans this past week. It hasn’t been easy to indulge in comfort foods, but I’ve given it a pretty good shot. So, another week down. Onward.

We need your support! Even if it’s just wishing us luck every now and then, we’d be grateful. Of course, linking to the contest or becoming a sponsor would be very cool too, and would be appreciated by the winning charity, I’m sure!… ...Continue reading

Finally, I’m making some real progress!

Yesterday, I ate a really yummy Mango Coconut Chicken Salad Sandwich at the TIMA (Triangle Interactive Marketing Association) luncheon, though I didn’t eat the crust for some reason. And I did not eat the brownie, despite how GOOD it looked.

I did have 2 chocolate chip cookies later at home, but they weren’t very big.

Then I had a Quizno’s salad, which i thought was an achievement, until I checked today and with the flatbread and dressing - it was 1000 calories! WHAT?!?!!!

oh well, it was all balanced out by the few calories I had earlier in the day. Plus, I was slightly more active than usual. And I went to bed hungry.… ...Continue reading

I’ve Been Bad

Ok, I’ll be frank. I’ve kind of fallen off the wagon in the last week or so. I allowed myself to be pulled into my old habits, and am a little embarrased about it.

Accordingly, I’ve gained back just about everything I lost earlier. I’m officially 206 pounds again. Its not looking particularly promising for me either. I’m off to SMX West next week, then SES New York in another 3 weeks … and these trips aren’t great for those counting calories or trying to exercise.

As I’ve said from the beginning though … whatever I do has to be sustainable.

Its interesting, I still haven’t been able to get into an exercise routine. I’m hoping once the warmer weather arrives in a month’s time, and the snow and ice melts, I’ll be… ...Continue reading

The Conference Challenge

Last night a group of 19 of us headed out to a Thai restaurant in London. Since we were such a large group, they recommended that we order the set menu for the table. This meant that at my table of 4 we received the food below, and note that this was only the main meal, we cleared out the appetizers first (3 plates). Thankfully for me there were only 3 of the plates that were vegetarian, so I wasn’t horribly tempted, but I still ate more than I needed to. I most assuredly did not partake of desert.

I did promise the other SEO fat fighter that I wouldn’t mention the fact that she was there, so I won’t… ...Continue reading

Off to London to Tempt Scottie and Simon

Well, those of you who aren’t fans of my “food feed” (ha! get it?) will be getting a nearly two week reprieve.

Greg and I are hopping a flight to London today where I’ll be doing a half day “Blogging for Business” training session on the tail end of SES London. On Saturday, we’ll catch another flight to Rome, where we’ll spend a week working our way up through Tuscany and the Cinque Terre before we fly out of Milan and back to London for another night.

Simon and Scottie are already over there and I hear word that food has been flowing. In fact, Simon told me they had 15 plates of food for  4 people.

I was tempted to take Scottie a big dose of my homemade peanut butter fudge, since… ...Continue reading
