A More Realistic Weight

Yep, it happened.  A day of drinking water and I’m back up to 162.   I considered not reporting it, but that wouldn’t exactly be fair, would it? ;)

I’m still pretty close to last summer’s weight.  I went through my weight journal (I use an online service) and realized I’ve been fooling myself about my weight for much longer than I thought! A quick search through Flickr confirmed that… man there are some mega fat pictures of me out there.

I’m glad I’m finally doing something about it- regardless of appearance, it’s a serious health issue.… ...Continue reading

I’m Stuck

I weighed in today at 224 lbs. That’s a total weight loss of 17lbs since I started. However, I have been stuck at 224 for a week. I’m still eating pretty good - a few starches here and there but sticking to the whole wheats. I think I’m stuck because I have not been excercising. My knee has been sore for the last week. I finally got to walk yesterday but now that I am at SMX West, there will be no time for a daily walk.

Maybe when we get to San Francisco after SMX West, I’ll be able to do some walking around the city and see some more weight loss - that is if I don’t blow it in my eating this week. Original Joe’s is… ...Continue reading

February 25, 2008 - 162.0

I lost another 1/2 lb. over the weekend! This is much better than last weekend.

I’m also finally starting to feel energetic again. I had the flu when this fat fight first started and I read you can feel fatigued for up to 2 weeks after. So I’m glad that the fatigue is finally waning.  I think it definitely helps the diet.

Also, I think it improves my chances of exercising.… ...Continue reading

Down 10lbs Total

Well, I finally got on the scale this morning again and was happy to see that I’m down 10lbs from the initial weigh in. I still haven’t done nearly enough exercise though so I’m fairly confident that I can keep the weight coming off. I’ve found that drinking a lot of water throughout the day has helped keep down my appetite quite a bit. I’ve also been eating Subway more and am really digging the low fat chicken teriyaki with sweet onion sauce (6 grams of fat).

So, all in all I’m pretty happy about the progress so far but need to really get on the ball with an exercise routine if I’m going to win this competition. There are about 5 weeks to go and if I recall correctly, that’s… ...Continue reading

Back On The Diet Bandwagon

Ok, so a couple of days ago, I was bad. But I got right back on the diet bandwagon yesterday, and I’m really glad I did. As much as I thought I loved all that fried food the other night, I really really loved my diet food last night.

We had grilled turkey burgers on whole grain kaiser rolls. It was yummy delicious good. And much much better than a ton of fried food.

Dieting doesn’t have to be hard. It just has to come with the right mindset and the realization that you can really L-O-V-E other foods besides the ones you are used to. I’ve already got a whole list going of fantastic meals that I WANT to have for the rest of my… ...Continue reading

Benchmark February 25

New weight: 160

Inches lost: .5

The inches thing is sort of discouraging but I’m glad to see the weight number still going down. Yay!

I kinda suspect the number may go back up in the next few days as I readjust to my normal eating habits (alchohol tends to have a dehydrating effect!)… ...Continue reading

Conference Crazies

While I usually lose weight at conferences from missed meals and late nights, I’m not so sure about this one. I drank a lot more wine than I usually did… but I don’t remember ordering more than 1 a night. It seems they just appeared as the first one was about to be gone… but I did a TON of walking so I think it all balanced out. I may not have lost, but I’m pretty sure it’s not a gain.

I was happy to meet the very tall, very lean and very nice Simon Heseltine on this trip and catch up with Jenn. (We both tried a little subliminal sabotage on each other… ;) ) I still don’t know why Simon… ...Continue reading

My Ironic Weight Loss Past

In 2004 I created a weight loss blog because I wanted to lose 30 pounds in 2 months. But I kept doing more and more web stuff and less and less exercise. Eventually I gave up on that blog, and decided to give it to my mom, who has blogged about weight loss (and lots of funny yardwork stories) for the past few years. )

When I started that blog in May of 2004 some people told me I was rediculous for wanting to lose 30 pounds in 2 months, but if you look at SEOsFightFat David lost 16 pounds in less than a month, and in 2006 I actually lost 40 pounds in 2 months. But losing that much required me to go to the gym twice or… ...Continue reading

A Bit Embarassed

Before I met my wife I lost 40 pounds in 2 months. But back then all I did was work out because I got addicted to it and wanted to be in really good shape when we met.

Sometimes when a girl gets married she stops caring so much and puts on 20 or 30 pounds. Well my wife did not do that, but I have been doing so much stuff that I just sorta let my health go, unfortunately. Because I lost so much weight before I met her in such a short period of time it was easy to gain it back. Plus I gained extra. I am too embarassed to even write down a starting weight, but I am well above everyone else on the list.

In addition to… ...Continue reading
